Your Dental Coverage: The Difference Between In and Out of Network

With the dental coverage included with your plan and with the CarePartners of Connecticut dental option, you can see any licensed dentist. But it’s important to understand the difference between in- and out-of-network services.

What is the Dominion PPO network?

The Dominion PPO network is a group of dentists that provide services for CarePartners of Connecticut members. CarePartners of Connecticut works directly with the dentists in the Dominion PPO network to help make sure you receive services at a reasonable rate. With the Dominon PPO network, you have access to thousands of dentists.  View the list of participating dentists in the Dominion PPO network.

Are costs the same in and out of network?

Your dental coverage is the same whether you see a dentist that is in or out of the network, but dental services outside of the Dominion PPO network may have a higher cost, and you may need to pay out of pocket:

  • Seeing a dentist in the Dominion PPO network  You are covered at the point of service and generally will not have to pay out of pocket for covered services.
  • Seeing a dentist outside the Dominion PPO network  You may need to pay out of pocket for covered services and submit for reimbursement. Also, services may have a higher cost.

If I go out of network, how do I submit for reimbursement?

If you have to pay out of pocket for dental services outside the Dominion PPO network, you can submit for reimbursement by filling out a dental claim form.

How to choose a Dominion PPO network dentist?

To see if your dentist is a Dominion PPO network dentist or if you need a new dentist, review the Dental Directory or contact Member Services for HMO: 1-888-341-1507 (TTY: 711) or PPO: 1-866-632-0060 (TTY: 711).

How do I know what is covered?

Your Evidence of Coverage (EOC) includes all the details of what your dental coverage provides. You can find the description of the dental coverage in Chapter 4 of your EOC. To view your EOC, go to the plan documents page and click on the EOC for your plan.
