CarePartners of Connecticut Waiving Treatment Costs for Members with COVID-19

Rocky Hill, CT, April 6, 2020 – CarePartners of Connecticut is waiving treatment costs for its members who have been diagnosed with the coronavirus, including copays, deductibles and coinsurance. This coverage applies at in-network providers, urgent care centers, emergency rooms and other facilities, and at out-of-network providers in the event a member cannot easily find an in-network provider to provide timely services.

“Connecticut is experiencing the effects of the coronavirus in unprecedented ways. We feel strongly that it is our job to make it easier for our members to access high quality, affordable care during this time,” said Russell Munson, M.D., senior medical director for CarePartners of Connecticut. “We’re committed to helping our members heal and to giving them – and the community – some peace of mind during this difficult time.”

The waiving of treatment costs is just one part of what CarePartners is doing to make it easier for get care during the coronavirus outbreak. Other initiatives include:

  • Testing – Waiving costs for the testing and counseling.
  • Pharmacy – Allowing members to refill their prescription medication(s) early, before their current fill is empty (controlled substances excluded).
  • Telehealth/Telemedicine – Eliminating out-of-pocket costs for telehealth visits.
  • Community Commitment – The Tufts Health Plan Foundation, the Foundation of one of CarePartners’ founding partners, committed $1 million to nonprofit organizations in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New Hampshire supporting older people affected by the coronavirus outbreak.
